Welcome to the British Graduates Association, Malaysia (BGAM)

BGAM is a voluntary and non-profit organisation set up in 1987 with the purpose of bringing together Malaysian graduates from British educational institutions. Serving as the umbrella body of all British graduates in Malaysia, BGAM aims to promote fellowship amongst graduates by playing the role of a friendly ambassador between Malaysia and Britain.

The Management Committee has organised different activities to cater for different members’ interest as well as to promote the Association to new members. If you came across a stranger in need of an organ, would you donate yours? That is exactly what Chew Hoong Ling did, and though the organ recipient passed on months later, she is not regretting her decision and has even wrote a book about it.

‘I don’t know you but let me save you’. The first thought in my mind was “Why?”. The skepticism in me was just too strong. You want something from me, that was the second thought.

In this day and age when we’re all too consumed with our lives, trying to make ends meet, chasing that dream of becoming rich, pursuing things that will keep us happy – we are focused on me, me, me.

But there is hope. As demonstrated by Chew Hoong Ling. And many others like her. She gave up almost 60% of her liver (despite having only one herself) to save a stranger’s life.
